Mommy Makeover – Is It For You?

A mommy makeover as the name implies, includes some cosmetic surgery techniques to turn back the time on a pregnant woman s body when she has given birth and successfully weaned her off of breast milk. With a mommy makeover a woman may restore her body to the way it was before she was weaned off breast milk or even more preferably, once she has successfully weened her child off of breast milk. The skin used in these types of procedures is typically lighter and more toned and tighter. These procedures can be very effective and the results are almost always amazing. A woman may go in for one of these procedures to correct things like stretch marks, sagging breasts or even spider veins that have appeared due to weight loss or pregnancy complications.

Depending on the type of cosmetic procedure performed, a mommy makeover can be short or long. Common procedures include facelifts, rhinoplasty, chin implants, buttock implants, dermal fillers, abdominoplasty, and liposuction. All of these procedures are performed by plastic surgeons with expertise in performing them and many are board certified in these specialty areas. Some procedures may also require additional surgeries for a patient to reach her ideal end result. The most common surgeries performed for moms are the facelift, rhinoplasty, chin implants, buttock implants, dermal fillers, and liposuction. In addition to this, a patient may also be required to undergo a host of tests before and after the procedure to ensure that all health conditions are addressed.

During the consultation stage of the mommy makeover procedure, a consultation with a plastic surgeon will determine if the patient is a suitable candidate. If it is determined that the patient is a good candidate for the procedure, he or she will prepare the necessary paperwork and then schedule the first consultation meeting. During this first consultation, a thorough physical examination will take place as well as blood and urine testing. Once all health issues are addressed, a date for the second consultation will be scheduled.
