Dermal Fillers at Ciao Bella Cosmetic Surgery in Scottsdale

Lots of people, both men and women are discouraged by the appearance of wrinkles, furrows and fine lines in their necks or faces. However, they don’t really want cosmetic surgery, either because it’s surgery or it’s too expensive right now. Our dermatologists at Ciao Bella are pleased to offer these clients dermal fillers to add volume to those dry, flat areas and restore a more youthful and animated look.

What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are materials injected beneath the client’s skin to add volume. They’re all biocompatible, are outpatient procedures and take less than thirty minutes in most cases. There are temporary, semi-permanent and permanent types of dermal fillers.

Temporary Dermal Fillers
These types of fillers are absorbed by the body over time. The client is free to return for maintenance treatments. One popular temporary dermal filler is hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar which is found in such fillers as Juvederm and Restylane.

Another type of temporary filler is the patient’s own fat. This fat is harvested from another part of the body, such as the thighs or tummy during liposuction. It is purified then reinjected into the patient. Because it’s from the client, there’s no risk of rejection.

Semi-Permanent
Semi-permanent dermal fillers last between a year and two years. They are made of substances such as poly-L-lactic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite. Radiesse is considered a semi-permanent dermal filler.

Permanent
Permanent dermal fillers include Bellafill. These are silicone injections used to soften the look of marionette lines and acne scars.

The Treatment
Dermal fillers are injected with fine needles. The client can have topical anesthesia, an ice pack or a puff of cold air to numb the skin, though it may not be needed. The client can leave our clinic soon after the session. There will be some swelling and bruising that can be soothed by an ice pack and will go away after a few days.
