The concept of Liposuction is fairly simple. It is a surgical procedure that improves the body’s contour by removing excess fat from unwanted areas of the body. It is the most popular surgical cosmetic procedure in the United States, and the evolution over the last 10 years has made it safer and better than ever before. Liposuction can be better described as body sculpting because that is exactly what the procedure entails. With new techniques and the aid of new technologies we can precisely shape the body while removing excess fat from those hard to get rid-off areas. If you have been considering liposuction to improve your body shape, then look no further. Our knowledge and expertise in liposuction speaks for itself in the results.
Liposuction is performed in our accredited outpatient surgery center. The procedure is performed utilizing only local anesthesia and in some cases mild sedation. The patient is awake during the procedure avoiding the dangers of general anesthesia but if you think you need some relaxation we can provide safe sedation that will be expertly monitored by our very experienced medical staff. The average liposuction procedure takes 4 hours to perform, and patients return home the same day of the procedure.
After liposuction you will be asked to wear a compression garment for approximately three weeks except when you shower. You are allowed to shower the day after your operation and it is common for fluid to ooze from the tiny incisions for approximately 48 hours. Patients can usually go back to work within 2-3 days after surgery but you must avoid strenuous activity for a couple weeks. Swelling and bruising can be expected to last 1-4 weeks. Despite the swelling you should notice an immediate difference in the shape of the area that was treated. The final results can sometimes take as long as 4 to 6 months.
Fat cells that are removed by liposuction do not grow back. As long as the patient does not gain excessive amounts of weight, the new, more pleasing silhouette is permanent. In fact, the areas treated by liposuction often prove harder to gain weight as opposed to areas not previously treated. Liposuction can be very rewarding and many times it helps people live a healthier lifestyle. It is best recommended to eat healthy and exercise regularly following liposuction to ensure your results last a lifetime.
Did you know that fat tissue is a rich source of regenerative stem cells? It has recently been discovered that fat tissue has an abundant population of regenerative stem cells that are more easily accessible than the ones in bone marrow. A typical sample of bone marrow yields about 5,000 stem cells, while a sample of fat rapidly collected through liposuction, can provide up to 200 times that amount. But what does this all mean and what can it do for me?
With a new breakthrough medical technology we are now able to extract these concentrated regenerative stem cells from your fat that can be used for an array of cosmetic and clinical applications. For cosmetic applications, the stem cells are first extracted from a portion of the fat harvested during the liposuction. Once the cells have been processed they are mixed back in with the remaining fat that was harvested forming a stem cell enriched fat graft “CiaoBellaFill™”. CiaoBellaFill™ can then be used to augment and rejuvenate other parts of your body such as the breast, buttocks, face, calves, hands etc. The use of a stem cell enriched fat graft eliminates the risk of re-absorption of the fat transferred to other parts of the body by promoting appropriate blood flow and necessary oxygen to the area. It has also been observed that the stem cell enriched fat grafts actually help rejuvenate the skin in the surrounding area making this procedure the best natural option for facial rejuvenation.
We have a great technology called Vectra 3D that can produce a three-dimensional photograph of you. Using the Vectra 3D Sculptor software, our doctors are able to simulate the expected results of your liposuction surgery. Make a confident decision knowing how you will look.
